Attendance

Attendance is so important for the children at Ward Jackson, and at any school for that matter.  As amazing as our children are if they miss out on important input, sequences of teaching and just time to apply their learning, they will struggle to meet their targets.

If the children are ill we obviously don't expect them to come into school and if you could also avoid taking any holidays during term-time as this has a significant impact on time missed from school.

Each half-term we will send a letter to inform you about how your child's attendance and punctuality is doing using a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) rating system.

We also have weekly awards for each class and termly awards for children who have achieved 100% attendance and also 97% attendance (our whole school target).

If you need any support with attendance or punctuality please speak to Angela Hall, our school's parent support worker.

The table below illustrates the impact of missing time from school from across the country.

0 weeks missed from school in KS2 = 94.6% of children working at the expected level

18 weeks missed from school in KS2 = 63.&% of children work at the expected level
