Our Classes

Tugboats Class - Age 2-6

Our Tugboats class covers both the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 1.

EYFS

At Ward Jackson, we provide personalised support and opportunities for our youngest learner’s first steps in education. Children develop quickly in their early years and by laying the best foundation through the standards set out by EYFS curriculum, we can ensure our students learn and develop in an engaging and safe environment, enabling them to become empowered learners.

Our dedicated and experienced EYFS staff build upon children's natural curiosity and build experiences around their interests. Skills are developed through a child led play, with staff seemlessly guiding children to challenge themselves in the areas of the Early Years Curriculum:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Communication and Language

Literacy

Maths

Understanding The World

Expressive Arts and Design

Our EYfS provision starts from 2 years of age and covers Nursery and Reception classes.

Year 1

To ensure a smooth transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1 (KS1), our Year 1 pupils are based within the same awe-inspiring setting as their younger peers. They have dedicated teaching spaces through which they access teacher led instruction, while still having access to the play based learning five and six year olds need. The Year 1 curriculum follows the National Curriculum delivered in our bespoke, Ward Jackson Way; through enquiry based, child led exciting experiences which develop thinking and questioning skills.

Years 2 - 6

The Year 2 to 6 curriculum follows the National Curriculum delivered in our bespoke, Ward Jackson Way; through enquiry based, child led exciting experiences which develop thinking and questioning skills. It encompasses a rich blend of academic skills and rigor. We pride ourselves on not delivering 'off the shelf' lessons but on planning personalised schemes of learning that are flexible and adaptive to our children's interests and needs. Our highly experienced teaching staff work with great pride to not only carefully plan for and track skills coverage and tailor our curriculum to meet all our children’s individual needs but to also ensure pupils are inspired, determined and empowered.

Through an enquiry based approach, driven by best global research and practice, our curriculum and teaching is experiential, stimulating and engaging and has been developed to promote critical thinking, questioning and independence. A unique emphasis is placed on fostering each child’s curiosity and developing their learning to help them become compassionate, well-rounded learners.
